MTS Meeting – Symbol and Myth – 2/19/11

The Queen of Pentacles

“Queen of Pentacles” acrylic after Pamela Colman Smith’s design for the celebrated Rider-Waite-Smith deck, by Charlemont, Mass., artist Linda Jones.

A member worked with the Major Arcana from the Rider-Waite-Smith deck and explored the Journey of The Fool from the perspective of neoPlatonism. She mapped each level of the journey to the quest for enlightenment as outlined in Plato’s The Republic, while also bringing in information from Robert Place’s works (especially The Fool’s Journey: the History, Art, & Symbolism of the Tarot. Reaction to the presentation was overwhelming: Sensational!

  1. Hello,

Could you tell me the time and location for the February 19th meeting?

    Thanks,

    Susan

    • 1 PM at the Gazette Building at 115 Conz Street in Northampton, Mass.
Take exit 18 from I-91, turn left at end of exit ramp (from either north or south) and you are on Route 5. Go .5 miles and go left just as you enter town, immediately past the bowling alley on your left. That’s Conz Street and the Gazette building is on your left.
